Beginning To Feel Like Christmas
Even though it isn’t snowing it’s starting to feel like Christmas here in Barcelona. The leaves are falling off the trees, the days are getting shorter, the shops are starting to decorate with Christmas trees and the city streets are lit with bright lights. Holiday cheer is in the air so make the most of this holiday season by partaking in some Christmas festivities around Barcelona!
Käthe Wohlfahrt Store
On November 6th the most famous Christmas decoration shop in the world opened. Käthe Wohlfahrt has embraced the Christmas spirit since 1964. It’s located in the old place where the Cistelleria Hermanas Garcia (Banys Nous, fifteen) once stood. The store offers Christmas decoration products with high quality materials and authentic details. A must see in preparation for the big day!
Visit A Tió De Nadal
The Tió de Nad is a Christmas log and is one of the region’s oldest traditions. It’s rather odd for any traveling visitors to witness this and here’s why. The Tió de Nadal is known as the sh*ting log. The people will “feed” it for days and when it is ready they will sing to it and hit it with a stick so it gives/craps out presents. A main Tió de Nadal is located by the main Santa Llúcia market in Plaça Nova. It’s a sight you truly will not want to miss or maybe it is.
Fira de Santa Llúcia Market
The is a must visit for any Christmas lover. Fira de Santa Llúcia Christmas market is the oldest and largest market in the city. It takes place at Avenue De la Cathedral in front of Catedral de Barcelona in the Gothic Quarter. It opens on November 27th and runs until December 23rd!
