Carnival in Barcelona 2019
From 28 February, the festival of costumes will arrive to Barcelona, with activities and entertainment for everyone.
Rúas (28 February – 6 March)
Each district of Barcelona organizes its own parade. Here the neighbors, businesses and organizations of each district work together. For example, in the Ciutat Vella district, the children’s parade El pequeño Carnavalassu take place on 1 March and the famous Carnavalassu ‘del Gótico’ on 2 March. In other important districts such as Eixample there will be two parades in each side of the district on 10 March. L’Arribo de Barcelona (28 February)
The Comediants company will star in the Arribo de Barcelona. Among the artists you will also see the typical giants of Barcelona and the Orquestra Reial del Carnaval. The tour begins at the Mary Santpere monument and ends at the Palau de la Virreina where the confetti will be blown up.
Burial of the Sardine (5 March)
On Ash Wednesday, schools from all the districts of Barcelona meet to celebrate the end of Carnival with a parade that parodies a funeral cortege.
