Catalan cuisine restaurants in Barcelona
Catalan gastronomy is known for its history and tradition. Here, the Mediterranean, the Pirinees and the nearby country of France come together. In today’s post we will show you a part of our favourites local cuisine restaurants, in the next post we will show some more.
It is a must of Catalan cuisine that has been preserved over the years. Originally it was a restaurant visited by well-known faces of the artistic, economic and political sphere of Barcelona. And its cuisine? Simply marvellous, cannelloni, anchovies, croquettes, ham, buñuelos and much more that you can discover in this temple of real food.
Tradition is in the air. The decoration is sober and its gastronomic repertoire, as if it were grandmother’s kitchen. Its owners come from the south of Calaunya, from the lands of the Ebro river. From there they have brought to the city the best regional dishes such as snails with spicy sauce, artichoke omelette and if you arrive in the winter you can try some seasonal mushrooms.
Located in the highest area of Barcelona, the chef Josep Maria Freixa has prepared a whole exhibition of the Catalan culinary vestige. You can’t leave without trying pork feet with plums and pine nuts or cuttlefish with artichokes, simply irresistible.
