The terraces, as you walk around you’ll be surprised of how lively this city is! The streets are always crowded with people, here they are making life in the street. The terraces are the perfect spot to watch the city life on first row… Also there are many in which you can have amazing food. The best part is the ritual about the tapas, you go there and share the food with your friends while you have a beer or a glass of wine, then you hop to another tapas bar, and try some more, in the meantime you talk and socialize, it’s really fun.
The spirits are always high in Madrid; summer seems as a happy mood season. Madrilènes are always happy, friendly and willing to give you a hand, they help you find your way in the city, and they are very fun and they do their best to communicate with you.
Whenever the temperature gets too high, you can always go to a public pool, with a good layout in different spots in the city, but the bes solution, of course, it’s renting a top apartement with private pool.

It’s true that Madrid does not have a beach, but having the “Parque del Retiro“ in the middle of the city, you won’t miss it. It is an amazing natural site, has a great pond in the middle with fantastic sculptures all around. In the summer, under the shade of a tree is another great spot to enjoy Madrid. And if you like sports, feel free to practice your favourite, there’s plenty of room!

But if you like culture you are in the perfet city: the three painting stars Museo del Prado, Museo Reina Sofia and Museo Thyssen Bornemisza form what is known as the Triangle of Arts.
Madrid is also amazing for its night life. You can find party spirits high everyday of the week, amazing! There are so many places for going out and having fun, doesn’t matter what your taste in music or party is, you’ll find the right place. People are very friendly and you will have great night.

The Prado Museum in Madrid

If you have decided to visit Spain, with its bright colors, its passionate music and its people funny and friendly, you can’t miss Madrid, the real capital of Spain’s soul. And one of the place which holds the essence of Spain is certainly the Prado Museum.

Prado Museum Madrid

The Prado Museum in Madrid ranks right up there with Paris’s Louvre, Florence’ s Uffizzi or Vatican Museums for the quality, breadth and renown of its collection. Just over 3,000 of the paintings in the Prado’s possession were commissioned by Spanish royalty, but the collection totals over 8,500. The building is enormous by most measures – visitors tend to be overwhelmed by the size – yet it is only capable of holding about 14% of the museum’s stock. Renovations are underway to enlarge the building and find a home for thousands of stowed away masterpieces.
The permanent collection is divided into 8 main categories on 2 floors: Spanish painting (1100-1850), Italian painting (1300-1800), Flemish painting (1430-1700), French painting (1600-1800), German painting (1450-1800), sculpture, decorative arts and drawings & prints.

The building that today houses the Museo Nacional del Prado was designed by architect Juan de Villanueva in 1785. The Museo Nacional del Prado, opened to the public for the first time in November 1819. The Museum’s first catalogue, published in 1819, included 311 paintings, although at that time its collection comprised just over 1,510 pictures from the various Reales Sitios (Royal Residences). The exceptionally important royal collection, which represents the foundation of the Museum’s collection as we know it today, started to increase significantly in the 16th century during the time of Charles V and continued to thrive under the succeeding Habsburg and Bourbon Monarchs. It is down to them than nowadays we can contemplate in the Museum as greatest masterpieces as The Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosh, The Nobleman with his hand on his Chest by El Greco, Death of the Virgin by Mantegna, The Holy Family known as The Pearl by Raphael, Emperor Carlos V on Horseback by Titian, The Foot Washing by Tintoretto, Self-portrait by Durër , Las Meninas by Velázquez, The Three Graces by Rubens, and The Family of Carlos IV by Goya. The Easter celebrations in Madrid during Semana Santa, or Holy Week, are obviously focussed mostly around several different religious processions, although anybody who has seen the fervent worship that goes on with the processions in Seville at this time will discover the more sombre character of the Madrileños. This is wonderful time for a weekend break or Easter holiday in Spain, the temperatures being moderate to warm, and with the interesting activities described below to occupy your time.

The celebration of the Passion of Christ is one of the most important traditions in Spain, and Madrid is no exception. Although, as ever, the Spaniards tend to use these traditional occasions more to go out and have fun than to actually rejoice in the religious origins of the events.
In Madrid there are around 20 of religious processions over the days before Easter Sunday.
Perhaps one of the most spectacular moments of Easter weeks occurs on Holy Thursday. This takes place at Calle Toledo, 37, at around 7.30 to 8pm at the Colegiata de San Isidro. The religious images of the Virgin Maria Santísima de la Esperanza and Jesús del Gran Poder are brought out of the church by the “costaleros” and through the main door. To do this, they have to get down almost on their knees to slowly make their way through, an immense effort which is noisily rewarded with much applause and shouts of encouragement from the watching crowds.
The main event on Easter Sunday takes place at mid-day in the Plaza Mayor. This is the “Tamborada del Domingo de Resurección”, that represents the earth tremors that were supposed to have occurred when Christ died on the cross.
