Highest buildings in Barcelona
Barcelona is a city that stands out for its innovative character. In the past it was demonstrated with Modernism with names like Antoni Gaudí or Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Now, many buildings have been constructed that redefine the city’s skyline. Even so, these buildings do not manage to exceed the famous Sagrada Familia in height, much less achieve its leading role. Want to discover them?
Torre Glòries – This building is known as Torre Agbar by the acronym Aguas de Barcelona and is one of the most representative skyscrapers in Barcelona. It is located in the area known as 22 @, the technological district of Barcelona. With 34 floors, it becomes the third tallest building in the city, behind the Hotel Arts and Torre Mapfre. Next to it you will find the Museu del Disseny, as well as the renovated Glòries shopping center full of shops and restaurants.
Torre Mapfre – As we just mentioned, the Mapfre Tower is another of the tallest buildings in Barcelona. This tower was built specifically for the celebration of the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992. At that time the Hotel Arts, located next to it, was also built, and they form the perfect setting for one of the most visited beaches, the district of Sant Martí.
Hotel Porta Fira – Together with Torre Realia BCN, this pair of buildings is known under the name Torres Fira. However, the hotel that houses has given it the name of Hotel Porta Fira. This impressive construction is located in the Plaza de Europa in the municipality of Hospitalet de Llobregat in the province of Barcelona. In 2010, it won the Emporis Award for the Best Skyscraper of 2010. 26 plants make up the 113-meter high structure, the fifth highest in the Barcelona metropolitan area.
