Mobile World Congress in Barcelona
If we had to decide which is the biggest business event in Barcelona along the year, that would certainly be the Mobile World Congress.
The Mobile World Congress (initially called 3GSM World) is a combination among the largest worldwide mobile industry congress and the conferences with the most important executives representing device manufacturers, vendors, technology providers and mobile operators across the globe.
The first edition was in 1987 and until 2006, the hosting city selected was Cannes (France), moment when the organizers decided to move it to Barcelona due to its larger infrastructure in the fair buildings, good flight connections and biggest lodging capacity. The fair was growing and Cannes started to be too small to take in the increasing amount of people year after year.
Along three intense days, around 90k attendees (attendance in 2015 was 93k) gather in Barcelona at the Fira Gran Via (Barcelona biggest Fair) to check the latest updates and trends from the mobile industry. Amongst the participants on past editions, Mark Zuckerberg or Google CEO where part of the relevant conferences from the Congress, showing the importance of the MWC within the industry encounters.
With such amount of travelers visiting the city those days in February, it is quite hard to find accommodation, however, some deals may be available yet, like those we have at Rent Top Apartments.
