SITC 2014

Catalans take 21.8 million trips a year and in 14.8 million cases, they decide to stay in their own Autonomous Community, according to data from the Tourist Studies Institute (2012). For this reason, one of the cores of the edition of SITC 2014 will be proximity tourism. Other options will be rural, gastronomy and wine routes, experiences that were the ones most requested by visitors for their holidays in 2013.
According to the show’s President, Raimon Martínez Fraile, SITC 2014 will be back “to show the latest trends and adapt to the needs of visitors: here they will find tailor-made holidays and will do so in a festive atmosphere, which will rouse their excitement for travelling and allow them to enjoy a world of experiences without leaving Barcelona”.
In addition to tourist options, the SITC 2014 will host an impressive range of side events that brought together 4,158 experts from the sector last year. The show will also organise professional meetings of leading tourist associations, organisations and companies to debate the latest trends and future challenges with the aim of promoting knowledge and new trade contacts.
The SITC 2014 is the event for lovers of travel. The International Tourism in Catalonia Show, sector leader in Spain among events aimed at end clients, has become one of the most important of the year for lovers of travel. Last year, it was visited by 101,230 people. Moreover, 66% of the public that attended the show chose their holiday destination during the event. In 2013, a total of 17 autonomous communities, 50 countries and 1,068 exhibitors took part in SITC. All information on the SITC 2014 official website.
