BarSWINGona festival was created by Carmen & Lluís on may 1998 and has been run by the barSWINGona team which has been continuously renovated. BarSWINGona main party dates are March 28th, 29th, 30th & 31th at the fabulous Casino de l’Aliança del Poblenou, that will be the major dance hall of the BarSWINGona’13.

Since the beginning, BarSWINGona purpose has been to allow dancers from everywhere share the passion for swing dancing and music with people from Barcelona and the rest of the world.
BarSWINGona is a not-for-profit event although the budget has been consistently increasing every year. Some years the festival did quite well whereas some others it did not and needed some private support to survive. BarSWINGona is struggling to get public support and private sponsors as well with just minor successes so far.
BarSWINGona is a bunch of lindy hoppers from Barcelona and other communities that are working as hard to make BarSWINGona an unforgettable swing event for you.
The organization also offers the possibility to enroll in short, but intense courses to learn dancing swing.
The courses are organized in many levels to avoid mixing dance levels in the same class and guarantee a progressive work in class. There will be auditions associated to each level. All classes will focus on steps and technique for Social dancing of lindy hop except one that will work on a lindy hop routine that will be danced by those who wish to do so in the final swing party. All levels, but the beginners one, will get all the Lindy hop Masters. Each couple of teachers will develop the steps in their own personal style. Each level will get 3 classes a day of these top couple teachers, therefore you’ll get 9 track classes in total. In addition there are Open classes that you can take. Primavera Club Festival

It ‘s winter, it’s almost Christmas, but in Barcelona is already Spring. The San Miguel Primavera Club is the indoor version of the famous international festival of indie music, the Primavera Sound Festival.

From 6 to 8 December three big clubs of Barcelona (Apolo, Mercat de les Flors, Sant Jordi Club) will host the best of the international underground music.
The San Miguel Primavera Club in Barcelona will even include a circuit of free concerts that will take place on Saturday 8th December in four record shops: BCore, Discos Paradiso, Luchador Records and Subwax. This happening is named Primavera a les Botigues.

Aiming to boost the record business, Primavera a les Botigues wants to draw the public of the festival into the city’s record shops. Those people who buy something in these 4 shops on the Saturday will participate in a raffle of 16 full festival tickets for Primavera Sound 2013, two double full festival tickets per establishment.

Primavera a les Botigues will also present a small exhibition that , from Monday 10th to Friday 14th December, will show the drawings of Kyle Field, singer of Little Wings in the Mutt gallery, as well as an acoustic showcase by the band in the same place on Wednesday 12th at 7pm.

The San Miguel Primavera Club also offers a great opportunity to the professionals to discuss about the situation in the music industry with the Primavera Pro. PrimaveraPro will organise a series of talks open to the general public of the festival. The programme will analyse the current state of live music on the Barcelona and Madrid scenes from the perspective of some of its key players. At the same time, there will be presentations about international live music circuits in order to identify inspiring models. The debate will open in Barcelona on Wednesday 5th December with a talk on the evolution of live music in the city, followed by a round table where musicians, promoters and managers sharing their impressions and experiences on international music circuits.

The 48h Open House Barcelona – Architecture Festival is the main event of the city about architecture, a weekend, on 27 and 28 October, to open more than 150 buildings of all types, size and shape. It’s an ArquitecturaReversible association initiative.

The 48h Open House Barcelona offers the opportunity to experience an exceptional architecture and in a completely free way. The Open House activities invite you to explore and understand the value of a well built and designed building. This event began in London in 1992, and since then the ‘Open House‘ has been introduced around the world: New York, Dublin, Galway, Tel Aviv and Barcelona.

The 48H Open House Barcelona began in 2010. This is a cross-cutting initiative, aimed especially to the citizens of Barcelona, which involves the participation of various social, technical and artistic actors to “open the great architecture to the city”. The goal is to experience the architecture and the city. The architects who designed the works, users, or those that are the responsibles to planning an area of the city are the mediators, that will help the public to understand what is architecture, suggesting itineraries and proposing activities and conferences completely free.

In the first year there were 25,000 views and 35,000 in the second one, demonstrating the growing interest in architecture and urbanism by citizens. The involvement of more than 100 architects has been fundamental to achieve a cultural exchange between visitors, users and authors.

In addition to the Primavera Sounds, the Summer Case and the Sónar, Barcelona hosts another great music festival, that grows up every year in terms of attendance and proposals, that is the Cruïlla Barcelona Festival. Cruïlla Barcelona is a music festival held at Parc del Forum in Barcelona the first half of July. The 5th edition will take place on 6 and 7 July 2012.

During this weekend will pass through 4 stages of the Festival over 40 bands from 6 pm to 5 am.
But the festival is not only concerts: Parc del Forum will be full of activities, circus, games, workshops, stalls from organizations with social projects. Cruïlla Barcelona wants to be a festival without music labels, where you can enjoy good music without prejudice, where you dont’ have to fill that you belong to any urban tribe, where the party and the public are the main characters. One of the challenges for this year, is to reach 30,000 attendees, to continue to grow up the next year.

Iggy Pop with The Stoogies will be the main headliner, along with the legendary ska band The Specials. FadFest, Barcelona Design Festival 2012

From 26 June to 12 July, Barcelona will be the international capital of creativity and design with FADfest.
FADfest is the FAD’s annual event celebrating creative excellence. It recognises the work of professionals and businesses and brings design closer to the citizens.

A showcase in which to discover the best proposals of the year in architecture, interior design, graphic design, advertising, industrial design, the handicrafts, art and fashion that is held in Barcelona between 26 June and 12 July as part of the Barcelona Design Festival, which continues until October 2012.

This is the most important design meeting in Barcelona. The FAD awards will be presented at the festival, where more than 500 works by the finalists will go on display. To enjoy the works of the winners and finalists in the different prizes, you’ll have to visit the “FADexpo: the best design of the year”, which will remain open until 22 september at the FAD headquarters (Pl. dels Àngels 5-6 of Barcelona). The second edition of the FADfest will be a fortnight filled with prizes, conferences, debates, talks and many other activities connected with design.
