FadFest, Barcelona Design Festival 2012

From 26 June to 12 July, Barcelona will be the international capital of creativity and design with FADfest.
FADfest is the FAD’s annual event celebrating creative excellence. It recognises the work of professionals and businesses and brings design closer to the citizens.

A showcase in which to discover the best proposals of the year in architecture, interior design, graphic design, advertising, industrial design, the handicrafts, art and fashion that is held in Barcelona between 26 June and 12 July as part of the Barcelona Design Festival, which continues until October 2012.

This is the most important design meeting in Barcelona. The FAD awards will be presented at the festival, where more than 500 works by the finalists will go on display. To enjoy the works of the winners and finalists in the different prizes, you’ll have to visit the “FADexpo: the best design of the year”, which will remain open until 22 september at the FAD headquarters (Pl. dels Àngels 5-6 of Barcelona). The second edition of the FADfest will be a fortnight filled with prizes, conferences, debates, talks and many other activities connected with design.

By the Filmoteca de Catalunya, Catalonia’s Film Library, during the FADfest we can enjoy a monographic programme dedicated to documentary films in which design takes centre stage. In order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the ONG, its most famous and significant ship, the Rainbow Warrior III, a new and better version of the previous Rainbow Warriors, has been travelling around the world and visiting plenty of destinations. Finally, these days it can be found in the Barcelona’s port, one of its last stops.

This last weekend, a large amount of people has had the chance to visit it inside. The 2012 Kings’ Night in Madrid will start at 18.30h at Nuevos Ministerios. Then, the route will pass by the San Juan de la Cruz Square, the Doctor Marañón Square, Glorieta de Emilio Castelar, Colón Square, Recoletos Walk, Cibeles Square and the end at CentroCentro and Cibeles Palace, set of the Madrid’s City Hall.

According to the expected programme, at 20.45h there will be the 3 Magi’s speech, addressed to the thousands of children who will have accompanied them in their ride. Then, to finish the celebration, amazing fireworks will dance in the sky with the music of the first movement of the Toys Symphony, by Leopold Mozart.
