That is a great oportunity for all opera fans. They will be able to enjoy the unique performances of the Bayreuth Festival without traveling to Bayreuth, the legendary home of Wagnerism in Germany, where the composer had a theater built to fit his concept of opera and which welcomes followers from all over the world every summer. It is one of the hardest world events to get tickets for (with a waiting list of up to seven years).

In the field of opera, the arrival of the 20th century caused a considerable fracture with the tradition that had put down roots in Catalonia. The Wagnerian universe went beyond and permeated all artistic expressions and the Russian opera made its way in the middle of the prevailing Italianated opera. Wagner was there to stay.

The Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona hosted the Bayreuth Wagner Festival in 1955, an event that deeply affected the audiences and made a great impression on the entire city. Now, 57 years after that milestone, which older fans still remember with awe, the theater will once again host the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and Chorus, with renowned singers who we will hear singing concert versions of three major works by Wagner: Der Fliegende Holländer (The Flying Dutchman), Lohengrin and Tristan und Isolde, under the direction of Sebastian Weigle and Peter Schneider.
