The San Silvestre Vallecana race in Madrid

This year’s race will be the 34 edition of the famous and traditional Madrid’s San Silvestre Vallecana race, which takes place every 31st of December in the streets of the Spanish capital. The aim of this event is to celebrate the last day of the year, and the participants are in charge of making the race a party by wearing funny customs and filling everything with its happiness.

Every year, the race is massively followed and thousands of people decide to run together. Actually, this year’s edition is expected to mobilize 35000 people! The runners are divided into two categories: the popular one, where you can run with the only condition of being older than 16 years old; and the professional one, with specific conditions to accomplish.

The race, which will start at 17.30h in the Concha Espina Street, will pass by the main touristic points, such as the Puerta de Alcalá, Cibeles Fountain or the Paseo del Arte.

A little recommendation for the participants: Although most of the route is quite comfortable, as it is slightly down, the last part of the itinerary is supposed to be a little more ascendant and difficult, so… reserve energy for the end!

The San Silvestre Vallecana race will be a beautiful event to see the last day of this 2011 in Madrid. Despite being 62 years old, the EEUU artist is eagerly looking for his next visit in Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla and San Sebastian.

The date for the Catalan concert is 17 May, although finally Springsteen decided to extend his stay one more day, so there will be a second concert on 18 May.

In Madrid, the appointment for the fans is 17 June. The big event will take place in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, where the music will let the people vibrate with his eternal pieces: from “Born to run”, to “Streets of Philadelphia”, passing through “Born in the USA”.

In Barcelona, the chosen place is the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium. Again, the concert is expected to mobilize thousands and thousands of people.

In the workshop, the young participants attend simulations in a huge screen where the whole universe is projected: the lunar cycle, the observation of the constellations and the astronomical observatory are some of the parts contained in the event. Moreover, they will learn to recognize planets and stars, and will receive plenty of information about the secrets behind the universe.

The aim of the activity is to figure out a mystery related to the universe. To achieve it, the children will have at their disposal, the Astronomer’s Manual. When the activity finishes, the wish is to have transmitted to the children, the love to the Astronomy.

This great workshop takes place every Saturday from 12.30h to 13.30h, and is free. However, as the maximum number of participants is 15, you need to do a reservation in advance.
